RAMAKKALMEDU- THE CRADLE OF WIND.....

Ramakkalmedu is a hill station of kerala which is located in the spice district Idukki. It is also the border of kerala and Tamil Nadu. Ramakkalmedu gives a very large sight of about seven township and adjoining fields surrounding by mountains in Tamil Nadu. This place is a safe heaven for number of animals and birds.

Now the place is very popular for its wind effect. The average wind speed of this place is 25 km/hour. Thousands of tourists visit this place for experiencing the unique wind effect.
Ramakkalmedu can be also used for paragliding. But there is no progress on this field. The attitude of Ramakkalmedu is about 3560 feet from sea level.



Ramakkalmedu became more popular by the establishment of wind mill. It was established with the assistance of private sector. We can hope that this wind mill projects will be a remedy for our increasing energy needs.
